Save the date: Action4Commons-webinaari ”Monisidosryhmäyhteistyö biodiversiteetin hallinnassa kaivosalalla”, 28.8. klo 10–11

Lämpimästi tervetuloa Action4Commons-tutkimushankkeen päätösseminaariin 28. elokuuta klo 10.00–11.00. Seminaari järjestetään Teams-webinaarina teemalla ”Monisidosryhmäyhteistyö biodiversiteetin hallinnassa kaivosalalla”. Ohjelma ja ilmoittautumislinkki lähetetään elokuun alussa.

Webinaarissa esitellään Suomen Akatemian rahoittaman tutkimushankkeen Collective Stakeholder Action for Commons: Integrating Business–Stakeholder Value Creation with Polycentric Governance keskeiset tulokset. Olemme viimeisten neljän vuoden aikana tutkineet yhtä yhteisten luonnonvarojen merkittävimmistä haasteista: luonnon monimuotoisuuden heikkenemistä Suomen kaivosalalla. Tutkimuksessamme tarkastellaan, miten yritykset, viranomaiset, kansalaisyhteiskunnan organisaatiot ja muut sidosryhmät osallistuvat biodiversiteetin hallintaan sekä biodiversiteettiin liittyvien haasteiden ratkaisemiseen. Kaivosala tarjoaa erityisen tärkeän tutkimuskontekstin biodiversiteettihallinnalle, sillä kaivostoiminta perustuu yhteisten luonnonvarojen hyödyntämiseen ja sillä voi olla merkittäviä vaikutuksia ekosysteemeihin ja luonnon monimuotoisuuteen.

Webinaarissa kuullaan myös lyhyitä kommenttipuheenvuoroja tutkimukseen osallistuneiden yritysten ja muiden sidosryhmien edustajilta. Lisäksi kutsumme kaikki osallistujat keskustelemaan kollektiivisesta sidosryhmätoiminnasta sekä pohtimaan hallintaratkaisuja, joissa sekä yhteisöllinen arvonluonti että monikeskuksinen päätöksenteko ja neuvottelu kohtaavat.

Tämä kutsu on lähetetty tutkimuksessa haastatelluille ja muulla tavoin tutkimushankkeeseen osallistuneille henkilöille. Kutsua saa välittää eteenpäin.

Save the date: Action4Commons webinar “Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration in Biodiversity Governance in the Mining Sector”, August 28 at 10-11

We warmly invite you to join the closing seminar of the Action4Commons research project on August 28, from 10:00 to 11:00 (Finnish time), held online on Teams under the theme Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration in Biodiversity Governance in the Mining Sector.

The webinar presents the key results of the Research Council of Finland funded project Collective Stakeholder Action for Commons: Integrating Business–Stakeholder Value Creation with Polycentric Governance. Over the past four years, we have examined one of the most pressing challenges facing global commons: biodiversity loss in the Finnish mining sector. Our research explores how businesses, public authorities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders contribute to biodiversity governance and participate in addressing biodiversity-related challenges. The mining sector provides a particularly important context for studying biodiversity governance, as mining activities depend on the use of common natural resources and can have significant impacts on ecosystems and biodiversity. The webinar will also include short commentaries from company and stakeholder representatives who have participated in the research. Additionally, we will engage all participants in a discussion on collective stakeholder action and explore governance solutions that combine collaborative value creation with polycentric forms of decision-making and deliberation.

We look forward to sharing our findings and discussing how collective stakeholder action can contribute to more effective biodiversity governance in the mining sector.
